Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 7, 2026.
This page describes how the NumaSim project maintainers ("we", "us") handle personal data in connection with the NumaSim project — the landing site at https://numasim.com, the circuit editor and simulator at https://app.numasim.com, and this documentation site at https://docs.numasim.com (together, the Service).
NumaSim is currently a small, pre-release project. This policy is intentionally narrow and covers only what the Service actually does today. We will update this page if that ever changes; the date above is the source of truth for what's current.
1. Who we are
NumaSim is maintained by an independent team. For any privacy-related question or request, you can reach the maintainers at:
Email: numasimtech@gmail.com
2. What data we collect
The only personal data we collect is what you choose to provide when you sign in to NumaSim (§2.1–§2.2). Separately, we collect anonymous, cookieless usage analytics that are not tied to your identity (§2.3).
2.1 If you sign in with Google
When you click Continue with Google, our authentication provider (see §3) receives the standard OAuth profile that Google releases to third-party applications:
- Your email address.
- Your display name.
- Your profile picture URL (avatar).
- A Google account identifier so we can recognize you on subsequent sign-ins.
We do not request any restricted or sensitive Google scopes (Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar, etc.). We do not read, write, or have any access to data inside your Google account beyond the basic profile fields listed above.
2.2 If you sign in with email and password
Some users may sign in using an email address and password instead of Google. In that case we store your email address and a securely hashed password through our authentication provider (see §3). We never see or store your password in plain text.
2.3 Usage analytics
To understand how NumaSim is used and to find and fix problems, we collect anonymous, aggregate usage analytics. These are cookieless — they set no cookies and store no identifier on your device — and are never linked to your account, your email, or the circuits you build (your circuits stay on your own computer; see §2.4). We honor your browser's Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals: when either is on, we collect no analytics at all.
Specifically, we collect:
- Traffic — aggregate page views and referrers (which pages are visited, and roughly where visitors arrive from).
- Product usage — a small set of anonymous events about actions in the app (for example, that a simulation was run, a circuit was saved, or a sample was opened), so we can see which features are used. These events carry no personal data and no circuit contents.
- Error reports — automatic diagnostics when the app hits an unexpected error (the error message and a technical stack trace), plus basic browser/device information, so we can fix bugs.
See §3 for the providers involved.
2.4 What we do not collect
For clarity, NumaSim does not:
- Upload your circuit files to a server. Circuits you save are written to your own computer through the browser's file-picker.
- Use analytics or advertising cookies, or store any tracking identifier on your device.
- Link usage analytics to your identity, email, or circuits.
- Track you across other sites.
- Sell, rent, or share your data for advertising.
3. Service providers we use
We rely on a small number of third parties to run the Service. They each see only the data necessary to provide their part of it.
| Provider | What they do | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Lets you sign in with your Google account. | The fact that you signed in to NumaSim; the profile data listed in §2.1. | |
| Supabase, Inc. | Authentication and session management. | Your account record (email, display name, avatar URL, hashed password if applicable, sign-in timestamps). |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Hosting (Cloudflare Pages) and CDN for the website and docs. | Standard web-server traffic data — IP address, user agent, requested URL — used to deliver pages and prevent abuse. |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Cookieless, aggregate traffic analytics. | Aggregate page views and referrers. No cookies; no cross-site tracking; no per-user profile. |
| PostHog, Inc. | Anonymous product-usage analytics (which features are used). | A small set of anonymous, cookieless events about in-app actions. No personal data, no account identifier, no circuit contents. |
| Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) | Automatic error reporting so we can find and fix bugs. | Error messages and technical stack traces when the app hits an error, plus basic browser/device information. No cookies. |
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle data on our behalf. By using NumaSim you are also subject to those policies.
4. Cookies and local storage
NumaSim uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in between visits, to remember UI preferences (toolbar layout, scope panel state, etc.), and to cache the WebAssembly simulator so the app loads quickly. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Our usage analytics (§2.3) are cookieless: they set no analytics cookies and store no tracking identifier on your device.
5. How we use the data
We use the information described in §2 only to:
- Sign you in and recognize your account on later visits.
- Show your display name and avatar in the app UI.
- Communicate with you, if needed, about your account or the Service.
- Understand, in aggregate and anonymously, how NumaSim is used and fix errors, so we can improve the product (see §2.3).
We do not profile you, build advertising audiences, or share your data with anyone outside the providers listed in §3.
6. Data retention
Your account record persists for as long as you have an account with NumaSim. If you ask us to delete your account (see §7), we delete your record from our authentication provider. Standard server logs at Cloudflare and Supabase may retain technical metadata (e.g. IP addresses, request timestamps) for the limited windows defined by those providers.
7. International users
NumaSim is operated from Canada and uses service providers whose infrastructure is global. By using the Service you understand that your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own.
8. Security
We use industry-standard authentication (Supabase + Google OAuth) and serve all traffic over HTTPS. No system is 100% secure; you use the Service at your own risk.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as NumaSim evolves. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page.
